How to Avoid Font Copyright Disputes
1. Use copyright-free fonts
Examples include Alibaba PuHuiTi and the Source Han font family (including Source Han Serif, Source Han Sans, etc.).
- Alibaba PuHuiTi: Download from https://www.alibabafonts.com
- Source Han Serif: Download from https://source.typekit.com/source-han-serif/cn
In addition, there are other distinctive free fonts available online, which you can search for, download, and install by yourself.
2. Purchase copyright for proprietary fonts
If you must use proprietary (copyrighted) fonts, purchase the font usage right from the copyright holder to avoid copyright issues.
DoingLabel’s Default Fonts
- English version: The default font is the classic Arial. This is because Arial is preinstalled on most operating systems. Note that Arial is a copyrighted font—if you do not have the copyright for Arial, you can switch to other fonts in DoingLabel’s font settings.
- Chinese version: The default font is the classic SimHei. The glyphs of SimHei are available for use without copyright restrictions.
How to Download and Install Fonts?
Take "Alibaba PuHuiTi 3.0" as an example:
- Visit the official font website (https://www.alibabafonts.com) and download the font zip package.
- After downloading, unzip the package and find the files with the .ttf extension in the folder hierarchy.
- Double-click to open a .ttf file, then click the [Install] button in the pop-up window to complete the installation.
Notes:
- The unzipped package contains multiple .ttf font files—you need to click [Install] for each one.
- For convenience, you can also copy all unzipped files with extensions .otf, .ttf, .woff, or .woff2 to the system font folder. The system will automatically complete the installation. (For Windows, the path is C:\Windows\Fonts.)
- After installing the font, you must restart your browser for the font to take effect in the browser.
How to Find the Name of a Locally Installed Font?
If you want to use a locally installed font, you need to enter the font’s name in DoingLabel’s font selection box. To find the font name:
- Open the system font folder. (For Windows, the path is C:\Windows\Fonts.) This folder displays all installed fonts.
- The file name below each font file is the font’s name.
